The Gibson ES-225 is a thinline hollow-body electric guitar produced between 1955 and 1959, recognized as Gibson’s first mass-produced thinline hollow-body model, predating guitars such as the Byrdland and the ES-350T.

It features Gibson’s unique combination Les Paul bridge and trapeze tailpiece design, which contributes to excellent vibration transfer, sustain, and tonal response.

The ES-225 delivers a warm, resonant voice, combining the richness and clarity of its P-90 pickups with the natural acoustic character of its hollow-body construction. The result is a remarkably expressive instrument equally at home in jazz, blues, rockabilly, and early rock ’n’ roll settings.

Despite being a fully hollow guitar, the ES-225 can handle moderate levels of gain without excessive feedback, thanks in part to its design and distinctive trapeze tailpiece configuration.

Production of the ES-225 ended in 1959, when it was replaced by models such as the ES-330 and ES-125T.
